FALLSIDE NATURE PARK MOSAICS

Overview
In 2000 Central Scotland Forest Trust (CSFT) was asked to help the community of Fallside to develop a piece of derelict land as a community nature park.  The main emphasis of the works undertaken by CSFT has been to facilitate access by local people through the provision of surfaced paths, the management and improvement of the existing habitats, to encourage use of the site by creating a central gathering/ events area and the provision of a pedestrian crossing on the adjacent main road.  The community was involved in the planning of the project from the start and continued to be involved practically in the ongoing development of the park.

In 2003 CSFT commissioned Julia from Deepfired to work with younger members of Fallside and create a site specific public artwork for the nature park.  The aims of the project were to engage the community with the site and the creative process, to enhance the appearance of the site entrance and to create a long-lasting artwork to celebrate the opening of the park.
