Drumpark School Ceramic and Mosaic Artwork

Overview

“What Drumpark means to us” is a ceramic and mosaic art piece created by the school, which closes in 2010/2011. The nursery and primary pupils will relocate to a joint campus with Greenhill Primary and secondary pupils to a joint campus with St Ambrose High School. The aim of the art project was to create a permanent lasting memory of the old school. The artwork will then be divided in two and displayed at the two new locations.

North Lanarkshire Council cultural co-ordinators, with funding from housing and social work services, worked with Deepfired Ceramic Studio and mosaic artist Fiona Fleming on developing the artwork that pupils helped design and create.Pupils have been working with a variety of materials and learning new skills as well as building working relationships over a six-month period.
